About us

An interdisciplinary team of physicians, biologists/biotechnologists and chemists conducts experimental and clinical research on the mechanisms of the most important diseases of civilization such as hypertension, heart failure and obesity.

The main topic of the Department of Experimental Physiology and Pathophysiology is the influence of intestinal bacteria on the circulatory system.

The Department has equipment for short- and long-term measurements of hemodynamic and electrophysiological parameters in small animals (mice, rats). In addition, the Department includes the Cell Culture Laboratory and the Molecular Biology Laboratory equipped with the necessary laboratory equipment.

Research is also conducted in the field of experimental dermatology on the use of biomaterials in wound healing in vitro ("scratch assay") and in vivo (surgical wound model) conditions and atopic dermatitis. The topics and research workshop are constantly expanded and adapted to current research.

The Department's employees are lecturers at national and international conferences. The Department cooperates with numerous research centres in Poland and abroad, including the United States, Great Britain, Spain and the United Arab Emirates.
